SERMON SERIES: Looking In All The Wrong Places
Message Title: HE IS NOT HERE, HE HAS RISEN – Pt. II
Text: Luke 24:1–8 (NIV) Key Verse: Luke 24:6 – "He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you…"
BIG IDEA:
The resurrection is not just something that happened back then. It's evidence of a God who is still moving, living, and true to His word. The same power that raised Jesus is at work in us and through us right now.
1️️⃣ AND HE IS A MOVING GOD (vv. 1–3)
TEXT FOCUS: The women showed up expecting to handle death—but God had already moved.
LIFE TRUTH: Sometimes, we’re still preparing for defeat when God has already made a way. The Resurrection is proof that God moves ahead of us, shifts things we can’t move, and breaks through where we hit walls.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
God moved the stone. What stones have you assumed were permanent? God is still moving obstacles.
Stop packing for death. They brought spices to treat a dead body—but life had already won. Where are you over-preparing for defeat instead of trusting God for breakthrough?
Follow faith, not fear. Even when you're unsure, take the step. Faith shows up even when feelings don’t.
DAILY PRACTICE: List one area in your life where you’ve been expecting "more of the same." Ask God to move in that area—and look for one way to take a faithful step.
2️️⃣ AND HE IS A LIVING GOD (vv. 4–5)
TEXT FOCUS: “Why do you look for the living among the dead?”
LIFE TRUTH: Our God is not a museum piece. He's not just a memory, a tradition, or a story. He is alive. And when God is alive in us, we stop recycling pain and start renewing purpose.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
Dead spaces can’t give life. Stop expecting old patterns, toxic relationships, or lifeless routines to bring growth.
Engage with the Living God. Don’t treat God like a relic—talk to Him, listen, obey. He’s active, personal, and involved.
Let His life fill your life. God’s aliveness can show up in how you speak, serve, and show up for others.
DAILY PRACTICE: Start your day by saying: "God, live in me today—lead my words, my choices, and my energy."Look for moments when you can choose life over drama, service over selfishness.
3️️⃣ AND HE IS A CANNOT-LIE GOD (vv. 6–8)
TEXT FOCUS: “Remember how He told you…”
LIFE TRUTH: God told them exactly what would happen—and it did. Our God cannot lie. His word is trustworthy even when our circumstances are not. When life shakes you, stand on what He said.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
Memory is spiritual warfare. The enemy attacks our memory—so we forget what God said. Fight back with faith.
Anchor your life in His promises. Circumstances change. Emotions shift. But God’s word stays firm.
God doesn’t ghost His people. If He said He’d raise you, keep going—even if it still feels like Saturday.
DAILY PRACTICE: Write out one promise of God (Scripture or personal) and speak it daily. When doubt creeps in, remember: If God said it, He will do it.
🔁 DISCIPLESHIP REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
What area of my life needs me to trust that God is still moving?
Where have I been looking for life in dead things?
What promise do I need to remember to stand on this week?
🗣️ CLOSING ENCOURAGEMENT:
He is not here. He has risen. And He is still moving.Still living.Still telling the truth.Let that resurrection power show up in your walk, your work, and your witness.
The tomb is empty—so you don’t have to live full of fear. Walk in the power of a risen King who moves ahead of you, lives within you, and always keeps His word.
