Series Theme: Looking In All The Wrong Places

“Who You Looking For... I Am the Resurrection” PT I

Text: John 20:13–16; 11:25–26 (TPT)

BIG IDEA:

We often look for peace, purpose, and life in all the wrong places. Jesus shows us that true peace and real life are found in Him, not in people, status, money, or even our feelings. He is life itself.

1️⃣ A PERSPECTIVE THAT ALIGNS WITH YOUR PROMISE

(John 20:13–14)

Key Thought:Mary was stuck in her sadness because she thought Jesus was gone. But Jesus was right there — alive and moving toward her promise.

Life Lesson:Sometimes we stay stuck because we’re looking at life through old expectations. God is doing something new — and we have to lift our eyes to see it.

Practical Application:

  • Stop settling for less. Don’t assume that just because it’s dark now, God isn’t working.

  • Look again. The answer you’re looking for may already be standing right in front of you in a new way.

  • Ask God to realign your vision. Every day, pray: “Lord, help me see what You’re doing today, not just what I expected.”

2️⃣ A PERSPECTIVE THAT TRANSFORMS YOUR PRESENT REALITY

(John 20:15–16)

Key Thought:When Jesus called Mary by name, everything changed. She recognized Him — and her sadness turned into hope.

Life Lesson:God’s voice speaks life into dead places. You don’t have to keep grieving over what’s over — new life is calling your name.

Practical Application:

  • Let go of dead things. Some friendships, habits, or goals were only for a season. It’s okay to grieve, but don’t get stuck there.

  • Listen for your name. God knows you personally. Take time to be still and listen — He’s still speaking hope to you.

  • Choose hope over hurt. When sadness creeps up, remind yourself: “Jesus is still here — and He knows my name.”

3️⃣ A PERSPECTIVE THAT CHALLENGES YOU TO LIVE NOW

(John 11:25–26)

Key Thought:Jesus didn’t just talk about life later — He said He is life right now. Eternal life starts today by believing and living like you matter.

Life Lesson:Don’t wait for "one day" to live fully. God made you for today, with purpose, strength, and worth.

Practical Application:

  • Live like you matter. Your life has meaning, right now — not after you get a degree, a job, a relationship, or more money.

  • Trust God’s view of you. You are already valuable because Jesus says so.

  • Take one bold step today. Whether it's applying for something, forgiving someone, or showing up with love — live like you believe you are who God says you are.

📝 Simple Daily Practice:

  • Morning: Pray, “Jesus, align my eyes with Your promise today.”

  • Midday: Pause and listen — “What are You speaking to me right now, Lord?”

  • Evening: Reflect, “How did I live like I matter today?”

🔥 Final Encouragement:

Jesus is the Resurrection. He is Life. That means you don’t have to look anywhere else for your worth, your hope, or your peace. It’s already yours — right now — in Him.
