Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

James 1:17-18 (NIV)

Every good and perfect gift comes from above, James reminds us—not from the places we often chase in our restlessness. In our hunger for affirmation, control, or clarity, we are Looking In All The Wrong Places—scrolling, striving, and settling for shadows. But the Father of the heavenly lights does not shift like our feelings or circumstances. Hidden Manna—His sustaining, soul-deep provision—comes quietly, generously, and consistently from Him. When we slow down enough to receive rather than chase, we begin to see that He chose to give us birth through the word of truth. That Word nourishes us daily, re-centering us in who we are: a kind of firstfruits of all He created. Today, let us turn from the noise and look up—where the good and perfect gifts were waiting all along.
