From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Matthew 16:21-23
Sometimes, like Peter, we look for God’s glory in comfort, power, and preservation—but miss the Hidden Manna found in surrender, suffering, and obedience. Peter’s rebuke of Jesus came from love, but it was rooted in fear and human logic, not in God’s divine plan. Jesus identified this mindset as satanic—not because Peter was evil, but because he was Looking In All The Wrong Places for purpose and victory. Hidden Manna often appears where we least expect it: in denied desires, in valleys, in the cross we’d rather avoid. God’s will may not always feel good, but it will feed us in ways comfort never can. Today, examine where you're searching for God’s hand—could it be He’s working behind what feels like a “no” or a closed door? True life is found not in resisting the path, but in following Christ—even when the way leads through Jerusalem.
