For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
Mark 9:31-32
We often miss the profound truths God is trying to reveal because we're Looking In All The Wrong Places for victory—earthly success, comfort, or immediate understanding. The disciples couldn't grasp Jesus’ foretelling of His suffering and resurrection because it contradicted their expectations of glory and power. They were looking for a Messiah who would conquer Rome, not one who would be crucified. In our own lives, we sometimes ignore the “hard sayings” of Jesus, avoiding the Hidden Manna found in surrender, sacrifice, and spiritual rebirth. The real bread of life is often wrapped in mystery, humility, and obedience. God’s greatest revelations are often hidden in what we fear to ask, in the places we least expect. Today, let us turn our attention inward and upward, trusting that God is nourishing us, even through uncertainty, with Hidden Manna that sustains us in ways the world cannot see.
