I’ll bring you back from the nations, collect you out of the countries to which you’ve been scattered, with a mighty show of strength and a terrifying rush of anger. I’ll bring you to the desert of nations and haul you into court, where you’ll be face-to-face with judgment. “‘As I faced your parents with judgment in the desert of Egypt, so I’ll face you with judgment. I’ll scrutinize and search every person as you arrive, and I’ll bring you under the bond of the covenant.
Ezekiel 20:35-37 (MSG)
Sometimes, God leads us into deserts not to punish us but to reveal what’s been buried under our busyness, broken dreams, and misplaced loyalties. We’ve been Looking In All The Wrong Places—searching for peace in applause, clarity in chaos, and wholeness in shallow waters. But in the barren wilderness, there’s a pause long enough for God to peel back the layers and say, “Come closer. I see you.” The judgment Ezekiel speaks of is not about shame—it’s about alignment. God brings us face-to-face with ourselves so we can uncover the Hidden Manna, the divine nourishment we missed while chasing empty wells. The desert is not the end—it’s the doorway to a deeper knowing, where God says, “Let’s begin again, but this time, on My terms.”
