I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Sometimes, we forget who delivered us. We wander in search of golden calves—power, prestige, likes, and labels—forgetting the God who brought us out when we didn’t even know we were bound. We tend to be Looking In All The Wrong Places, chasing what glitters but finding no glory. Yet God’s commandments are not about control but about covenant—a call to fidelity, freedom, and a holy remembering. In turning back to the One who led us through the wilderness, we discover Hidden Manna: daily provision, quiet peace, and sacred identity. No idol, no imitation, no shortcut can match the sweetness of what God provides in secret. The same God who brought you out still knows how to bring you through.
